Hi, friends, my name is Stuart Dixon, and welcome to the very first episode of the Ignited Man podcast. This episode is all about the podcast, a bit of the background, and what you can expect going forward. So let’s get to it.

So what’s the podcast all about? Well, this show is all about self-mastery. It’s for men who want to win at life. It is for those of you that want to climb out of the struggle and live life on your terms successfully, passionately, with energy and drive. It’s about putting you first so you can be a better version of yourself.

The podcast is a 40-minute weekly show where I interview smart people who will unlock the door to a life less ordinary. The podcast will inspire you, educate you, and hopefully entertain you. We’ll get to reveal the habits, the hacks, the winning formulas, and strategies that we can all use to grow and be better men. I am not a doctor. I’m not a specialist, a guru, a psychologist, or any kind of expert. But what I am is a man with a hunger to learn to grow and succeed. So this journey into self-mastery is our journey. This podcast is our vehicle, and I would be honoured if you would join me. Life shouldn’t be about surviving, but thriving. And today is the day that we get to work where we get out of our heads and start to take action to positively transform our lives.

So let’s give you a bit of a background as to how I got here. So firstly, since my early 20s, I’ve always been into personal development. In fact, it’s got me through some pretty tough times in my life. In the last 15 years, I’ve become a father, a husband, undergone serious spinal surgery following a tumor, and I lost many important people in my life.

It’s fair to say that I’ve had a lot going on. Life can be hard, but what I’ve had to face is nothing in comparison to what many go through. And I count myself as very lucky. I’ve wanted to start something for a long time that can make a real difference to people. Probably since about 2007. Many things have got in the way life, family, self-doubt. I was dabbling in blogging but wasn’t building anything of any value. But to separate redundancies in recent years has given me a severe emotional and financial kick up the arse. My experiences led me to understand that there is no such thing as job security. I have learned that I must trust my own instincts and not put my life in the hands of others. I must take control. I must fall forward and become self-reliant in order to support my family, look after my mental health, and take charge of my own future. So at this junction, I realised it was time. It was time to bring my love of personal development together with my skills and experiences to create something of value at this time of reflection. I noticed that many male family members, friends, and colleagues were lost, unhappy, struggling, dropping the ball, and making poor decisions with some serious consequences. I remember thinking, this isn’t good enough. What’s going on? The world is changing at breakneck speed, but the mental wellbeing of the men in our lives is deteriorating. The Samaritans published in 2018 the fact that there are over 6,000 male suicides in the UK and that middle-aged men have the highest rate of all suicides.

That’s appalling. Incredibly sad and frankly, not good enough. We can do better than this. We need to reignite the men in our lives so that they have direction, purpose, passion. Our families need great men, our communities need great men, and the world needs great men. It’s in all our interests to support each other. So I decided to start this podcast, to serve, to inspire and support men, to get match fit for life, and to live a life less ordinary.

Thank you to those of you that have encouraged me and have helped me to get this podcast to this point. Also, a huge thank you to those of you that backed the podcast on Crowdfunder. Over 70 people put their hand in their pockets to make this happen. And your money has enabled me to kick off the first season of the podcast. I appreciate every single one of you.

So as you can imagine, I’m incredibly excited about the launch of the podcast. It’s been a long time coming and I hope that there is some really valuable content for you and perhaps some of your family members in there. And to date, the interviews have been incredibly inspiring for me personally. And I know they’ll be inspiring for you, too. And as I recall, the very first episode to kick things off, there are seven episodes currently being edited. And by the time you hear this, some of those will be already launched alongside this one. So huge. Thank you to all my guests that have been involved so far.

So as this is my first go at podcasting, I’ve just loved every single minute of this adventure so far and I will be striving to consistently improve the show as I go and move forward through each episode of the podcast so I can reach and help as many people as I can. I ask you with gratitude to subscribe to the show, leave a positive review if you enjoy the content, and share the show with at least one person.

And together we can start to lift men up and get them to level up and make a difference. You can be a part of the ignited my community just by going to the website, the ignited mine dot com, sign up to the newsletter and join the various social groups. So it’s time to go and do some work. So thanks for listening. I hope you enjoyed this episode. Take care. Bye.
